Lane hadn't expected to get her room assignment moved. She'd been distinctly unhappy about said movement. Lane had made that unhappiness quite clear. But she was still being moved.
Pouting, the girl walked into her room, looking cautiously about and trying to remember if anyone had mentioned a room mate.
However, all such thoughts were wiped from her mind as she took in her room. Small though it might be, an artificial stream of water pooled into a filtered pond that was just the right size for her to enjoy it, in human form or in animal form.
There were two beds, neither looked as if they'd been slept in recently, but perhaps that only meant a clean room mate?
Lane didn't bother to wonder for long, dropping the three suitcases of varying sizes onto the bed, and flopping down beside them, sighing in relief and examining her bags, trying to remember which one of them had her best clothes in them. It couldn't be the little black one, so she shoved it lazily off the bed, remembering only belatedly that it was that bag that had held her books in it when it slammed onto the floor with a sound that echoed up and down the hallway out the open door.
Lane moved on to the next bag, a medium sized black one, that looked suspiciously similar to a duffel bag. She unzipped the main pouch, pawing through it, and looking distinctly disappointed upon discovering only casual wear. She zipped it back up again, and casually pushed it off her bed, wrinkling the covers as she did so, before moving promptly on.
The final suitcase, an actual suitcase this time, upon being unzipped revealed various fancy materials, and Lane snatched up something that would reveal itself to be a dress later and slipped into the bathroom, which, to her disappointment, revealed itself to be nothing but a bathroom with a walk-in shower, a sink, and a toilet.
A few moments later Lane skipped out, barefooted, with scuffed sneakers held disdainfully in one hand. She tossed the sneakers under her bed, and fished through the suitcase that still lay unzipped on her bed until she pulled out a small compact mirror.
She examined her reflection, garbed as it was in a simple white dress (the lower part of the dress hung just above her knees, about as daring as she was willing to get if she didn't know her room mate yet), her hair hung loose around her face.
Lane decided she looked pretty enough for then, and, tucking the compact mirror back into the suitcase, she zipped it up, and carefully shoved it and the other two bags under her bed.
She'd unpack later.
There was a chest of drawers by the bed she'd assumed was hers, and the room looked fairly clean.
Briefly, Lane considered heading over to the other side of the room to try and figure out if she had a room mate, before deciding she might as just wait.
Waiting was fun, after all.
A few minutes passed, and Lane yawned lazily, flopping down onto her stomach so that her head hung over the floor, and after a few moments of rooting around beneath her bed, she swung up again triumphantly, face red, with a book clutched in her fist.
Opening it to a random page, Lane propped herself up on her elbows and began to read.
ooc:|| Random people are welcome to this thread, but Lane would luff a room mate. xD And normal rooms will not have water in them, unless there is an aquatic shifter in there, but a non-aquatic shifters are welcome to be Lane's room mate.

((moving Maikoda here now))
Maikoda walked in, her eyes showing signs of annoyance, probably from her brother. She stopped in the door way and stared at Lane. She was very surprised to see another person in this dorm. She had gone without a room mate now for months, ever since her last room mate, a flamingo shifter, had killed herself in a flying accedent. Maikoda shrugged and walked to her bed where she threw back the blankets, revieling three sketch books. Her copper eyes looked at them for a moment before she picked them up and moved two to her side table, and placed the other on her lap as she sat down on the bed. ''You new here?'' Maikoda asked simply, trying to hide the annoyance that still blazed in her chest.

Lane turned the page, her brown eyes flickering upwards to take in her new room mate. "You are . . . Maidoka, correct?" the fumble of Maikoda's name was not intentional at all, but if Lane had known Maikoda's real name, she still would've messed up her name on purpose. "And your brother is Hinto?" trust her to get the boy's name right, but not the girl.
Well, the boy was damn fine. A good looking boy, Lane would have fun with him at some point.
She smiled, pushing her book aside as Maikoda opened up her sketchbook, "You draw?" she queried, getting up from her bed and ambling over, the cheerful burble of the water growing slightly louder as she reached the girl, leaning forward to see the sketchbook, frowning slightly upon realizing that she could only see the cover.
She grinned widely as Maikoda asked her if she was new here, and fairly dancing, she replied, "Kind of new here, actually. I've only been here long enough to get a room assignment. Got here a few days ago, and I slept in the DNA Quarters for a bit." a pure lie, right there, designed for one reason, and one reason only: to get closer to Hinto. If she didn't know her way around, perhaps her room mate, or even her good looking room mate's brother would help her figure out her way around.
She flounced down on Maikoda's bed with a small smile, "So what's it like here?"

''Maikoda,'' Maikoda corrected her as she pulled out a half way colored picture of HInto in both Tiger and human form. The two forms seemed to blend together beautifully, and her drawing was almost real looking. Hinto seemed to be staring at the ground to the left, his eyes almost looked glazed. Then the Tiger form stood on the right of the human form, its eyes bright and looking out at whom ever was looking at the picture. The eyes of the tiger and its nose and stripes were all colored in softly, capturing the softness of Hinto's shifted color. The hinto human form part though had little color. Only his hair, eyes and dream catcher necklace was colored. He seemed deathly looking, for his skin was still the color of the paper, a pale off white color.
''Course i draw. What else is there to do here?'' she asked with a snort as she looked up at Lane and away from her picture. Her hand gripped a fine pointed black colored pencil, waiting to be put to use to color the dark cloths of human Hinto. Maikoda was silent for, clearly thinking about her first impression of her new roommate. By how Maikoda's eyes turned to a hard gleam, it was clear that she was a little on edge of her new roommate. /Cant be as bad as that stupid flamingo girl. She was an idiot/ She thought as she let out a small sigh.
Maikoda almost forgot Lane's question. ''I say it sucks. Others don't mind it, like my brother, for example'' She said with a growl. She was still frustrated with Hinto. ''But he is a...'special case','' She said with a snarl. She hated how Hinto turned his own kind in, only to protect her. It was stupid of him, at least in her opinion. She finally shrugged. ''I guess it just depends on how you look at it.'' She said with a slight smile as she looked back down at her drawing. She lightly pressed the black pencil to the pupils of the human hinto and made them just a slight bit darker. She then did the same to the stripes of the pink nosed white tiger. A very small smile was on her face as she did so, as if amused by her own small realizations about her own art. She then looked back up at Lane. ''I didn't catch your name,'' She said with a small frown, not really catching the rudeness that was meant to go to Hinto.

Lane shrugged lazily, "Same difference." she sniffed in reply, "Maidoka, Maikoda, either way, it's the weirdest name I've ever heard." Lane grinned, batting her eyelids. It wasn't quite a flirtatious movement, just a cool annoyance that the batting of her eyelids made much clearer, and more obvious. She leaned forward, her fingers trailing across the drawing, a small smile on her face as her fingers pressed against one of the stripes, and she pulled her finger away, flipping it upwards to examine the graphite that had gathered on her fingertip.
"Read?" Lane suggested coolly with a grim smile, "I read all the time, but it is kind of odd to read here. It's so . . . weird here. I didn't think that there was anyone like me, ya know?" she grinned, giggling, "I'm an otter shapeshifter." she added with a smug smile. Her lies that had fallen from her tongue so easily for the majority of her life were just as easy then.
Far more interested in information about the boy than about what it was like there, Lane leaned forward with a singular attention, "What's a special case mean?" she queried, glancing eagerly towards the door. Perhaps thinking about him would summon him...
"Oh, I'm Lane." Just Lane, the girl didn't care to elaborate at all, and amusement flickered in her eyes as she leaned back on the other girl's bed.

Maikoda didnt look back up at the girl. Her anger was only building. First Hinto, now her. ''If you are so interested in him, why dont you just go talk to him?!'' She snapped with a dangerous gleam in her eyes. The hair on her arms stood on end, the signs that she was holding back her shifting, and her pupals turned to slits for a moment, then back again. She held in a snarl and shook her head. ''He is in his dorm,'' She snarled as she dropped the black pencil and picked up a light grey one.

Lane grinned widely, "You know, that's a good idea." she hardly noticed the anger in Maikoda's, at least outwardly, "I think I'll go do that." she smiled lovingly, getting to her feet and gently tapping Maikoda's nose, like one would a cat, a condescending movement, and Lane twirled away with a giggle, slipping out of the room in an instant and skipping towards where she knew Hinto's dorm was.
Yes, she knew her way around very well.
Lane smiled, bringing her fingers upwards to rap on his door, once, twice, three times.

Maikoda watched her go with a snarl. She shook her head and went back to her picture. ''Good riddance. I hope she annoys Hinto to death,'' She laughed slightly and then fell silent.
''Mai, you know you can just walk in!'' Hinto called as he sat there, looking out the window in his forest like dorm room. It was clear by the neatness of the room that he was the only one that stayed in there. The window seat in which he sat looked like a bolder against the glass. He wore no shirt now, a showing sign that he was relaxed and comfortable where he was at. A brown bandage was wrapped on his upper left arm, covering a large wound he had gotten from a fight with his sister. His black shirt was still half way on on his right arm, and his belt was in his tight grasp. His blue eyes seemed troubled, but then, he was often troubled now.
''Come on, mai. Im not gonna let you in,'' Hinto called again as he turned his sapphire eyes to the door. He didnt want to move, and he didnt want to open the door without a shiirt, who knows who would see him. He pushed a strand of black hair out of his face and stared at the door, waiting for it to open. He was tense, clearly ready for, who he thought was his sister, to come in yelling at him. He sighed heavily, and turned back to the window and his hand was on his head. ((haha look at his picture)). He had a slight head ache from working late the night before. Work. How he hated working, but it was the one thing he could do to protect his sister from further harm. He was so caught up in protecting his sister, he had yet to even become friends with anyone. He shook his head. His thoughts were all in a giant heap in his mind. He wished he could straighten his life up, if ever so slightly, but he knew that now, that would never happen. He doubted that he would ever go back to the tribe with his sister. The tribe... He had visited the Saw Tooth tribe three weeks ago. Oh, how exciting it was to see Naaka-hay again. He had missed the cheif and his adoptive father with much of his heart. He smiled at the memory of them greeting him, and treating him like a true spirit walker. He then frowned as he remembered telling them the story of what had happened since they had left and why maikoda wasnt with him. The Tribe members were the only ones who seemed to understand his motive to turn Maikoda in. He looked to the door again, wondering if it was ever going to open.

Lane giggled flirtatiously, "If that's who you want me to be, I'll be her. Even if that is a little kinky." she winked as she pushed the door inwards, sashaying in with a small smirk. Her eyes widened slightly as she took in his half naked body, and Lane licked her lips, grinning widely.
"Well then, hell[/i]lo[/i] handsome."[/b] she sang out as she moved across the room, towards Hinto, with each step she took, she appreciated his handsome body more.
"Make that beyond hansome." she amended by the time she was around a foot away, smiling flirtatiously and pausing, flipping her hair, before she moved a few steps closer.
Just close enough that she could reach out and touch those rippling muscles - Lane could appreciate a good man, definitely - and she nearly did.
But she stopped herself just in time, her arm barely moving a centimeter upwards before it slid back down. If she moved too fast, she'd screw over any chance she had in getting him in bed.
Lane licked her lips again. "You're Hinto, right? I'm Lane." she knew he was Hinto, she wasn't that out of it, but Lane was surprised she hadn't spotted such a choice piece of man flesh sooner.

Hinto went red as soon as the door began to open. He had realized that it wasnt his sister as soon as the first crack between the door and the wall was exposed, letting Lane's scent into his room like a broken dam releases a river.
/Otter...female/ He thought quickly as she began to walk into the room. His muscles tremored slightly, slight shyness shook him. /brilliant/ he thought as she stepped closer. He didnt know what to do. He was almost in a transe as he watched her come closer and closer. His eye brow went u slightly, an in-volentarry reaction.
Finally, just as Lane pulled back her arm, he stood up and quickly slipped his shirt back on. The belt was still in his hand, for he hadnt gotten to putting it back on yet. ''I am,'' He said strongly with a frown. He shook his head slightly, Making his hair fall into his face and cover his strong, but shy bue eyes. He looked at her, curious on why she was in his room and who she was. Yes he now knew her name, but he didnt remember seeing her before. then again, it had been a while since he had been here last.
''Nice to meet you, Lane,'' He said softly as he began to pull his belt on again. Sex lines could be seen just above his jean line as he pulled up his shirt to find the loops in his jeans.
Once his belt was back on, he fixed his shirt and looked back at her. His face was professional looking again and he looked the the Searcher that he really was. His eyes no longer let off a small content glitter, but were serious and hid all of his true feelings and personallity. This girl was nothing beyond normal routeen. Quite often on his searching trips, he would run into whores or hookers and various other...bad... girls. He had been trained to keep his cool, and not give them what they want. It was all about getting the job done.
''What can i do you for?'' Hinto asked, then his face when red. //WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SAYING!?// he yelled in his own head. He couldnt believe he had just asked that. ''I-i mean...what can i do for you?'' He asked, the professional look slightly faded from his eyes as his embarassment flaired in his chest and mind.
He looked at the ground, still trying to reclaim his thoughts. //Hinto, straighten up,// He told himself. //Its just another girl...// He took a deep breath. //Just another...very beautiful...OH STOP!// He held in a growl. He felt like he was fighting with himself, trying to convence himself that he wasnt admireing her when he looked back at her.
Finally, after a moment of thought, he came to an agreement with himself. //Hey, this is the school. Not the real world.// He smiled to himself slightly. //What harm could it do to woo a shifter here?// His thoughts purred happily. //At least you cant get in trouble here like i did in vegas,// he added silent as he thought of the time, a year ago, when he had the vegas position. He had only been stationed there for three weeks, for he had been caught with a different girl in his bed 18 times. //It was all because of the drinks// He told himself. His mind giggled like a innoccent child. //Its called Sin City for a reason...//

Lane snorted, "I knew you were Hinto. You don't need to clarify that." she said, noting him throwing his shirt back on, and fixing his belt. Awkward much? She thought to herself. One thing she'd have to remedy before she got him in bed.
"Nice to meet ya, too. Even if I already know who you are. Jason knew you quite well." she grinned. Jason, hah, he'd been fun in bed. Of course, dumping him was what had gotten her moved. The grin in her face faded away quickly, replaced by a flicker of anger.
"Hmph." she commented, reaching out and pushing his hair out of his eyes. "Don't hide what you were given. It's a waste of time. Especially because I've seen it all." she smirked, her bad mood fading rapidly.
"Ooh, anxious, are we?" she grinned lazily, watching him stumble all over himself trying to fix what he'd said. "Well, if you're going to be boring, nothing." Lane tossed her hair, "Honestly. Boys are so stupid."
She shrugged, "Anyways, I was just scoping you out. I heard they had some good looking boys out here. I wasn't dissapointed. But still, obviously, you're far too shy to do anything." and with that dismissal, she turned away, beginning to walk slowly towrds the door, waiting even as she did so for him to say something.
She couldn't deny that he was good looking. And that she liked his body.

Hinto chuckled. ''Not often i am scoped out by anyone but my bosses,'' He said with a snicker. ''Not since Vegas,'' He added with a small chuckle, knowing that she was the type of girl who would 'enjoy' hearing that.
He watched her, his eyebrows up slightly as he did so. He shifted his weight slightly and rubbed his chest, a habit he had picked up after getting hurt there a few years ago. He smiled slightly and nodded with an amused look.
''Not one to be patient are ya?'' He said with a small laugh. ''Slow and steady, wins the race...'' He snickered and leaned against the wall with a small smile still.

Lane laughed, "Honey, I could show you things that Vegas showgirls would give their right arm to learn." she turned back to face him with a wicked smirk on her face. "I've learned from the best."
The smile faded from her face. "I'm bored, fool. I'm not one to sit around and wait for boys when I could find ones that would be absolutely delighted to be with me. I'm not going to wait for you to decide I'm worth it. I have other boys. Yeah, you're good looking. So are a million other boys here. Get over it."

Hinto laughed. ''So be it. They probably have more time for a girl like you.'' He sighed and his smile faded. ''As much as i wish i could be the one to do that for you, M'mistress,'' He said softly.
His eyes shifted to his book of places he is to go searching. He sighed heavily. ''My job will not permit me to have anyone i love or admire,'' He said, more talking to himself than Lane.
He looked back up at her. ''I hope they give you all you want,'' He said as he turned awy from her.

Lane grinned flirtatiously, "Ha, why don't you do it then? Just because I'm not patient doesn't mean I won't wait around for you. I just won't be waiting around with no entertainment. I'll find someone to pass the time with. Eventually you'll come to me. They all do." Her voice took on a more serious tone, totally different from what she'd begun with.
Lane shrugged, "Who said anything about loving or admiring?" she queried, "I'm talking about passing time in the cold winter." she pointed out, smirking, "I don't love anyone. Never have, never will. I appreciate man-flesh. I don't love it. Jeez." she rolled her eyes towards the heavens. If only he didn't have misguided visions of honor.
"So do I." Lane snorted. "If they don't, they'll find themselves kicked to the curb."
