A. Mercury Campbell
Full Name: Alexander Mercury Campbell
Goes by: A. Mercury, or just Mercury.
Age: 37
Roleplayed By: Knight
Personality: Mercury is large and in charge, and he knows it. You could say he has an ego, and it's true, he does. He just doesn't make that ego obvious. When he knows things, he knows them, he doesn't need compliments to back them up. If he's smarter than the next man, he doesn't need someone to tell him that. He'll just know it, no one will have to tell him anything.
In general, Mercury does not find people to be worth his time. To him, they are mainly pawns in a game that he plays, though they do not know that he plays with them. He enjoys playing his games, manipulating the people beneath him, it is perhaps one of the few things he likes in life to do.
Mercury is also a liar. He likes lying, and he is a very skilled liar. Rarely can a person tell that he is lying, it is even more rare that there is a reason behind other than to make his life easier, better, even. He likes it when people don't realize he's lying, however, he likes it even more when they know he is, and try to guess why, as there is rarely ever a reason behind it.
If presented with all aspects of his personality, you would notice that he doesn't really have a conscience, though rarely does one meet his true personality, rather than his affected outer layer, a kind, polite man, who enjoys flirting and all that good stuff.
And rarely does Mercury get attached to anyone, however, he appears to be rather attached to his third experiment, the only one who survived the first injection, Sam. He doesn't get attached to anyone, no, but for some reason, Sam's 'imitations of him' (that's his ego talking) are strangely endearing.
History: Mercury's childhood was painful, not something he likes to discuss. He was smart, with an IQ of around 200, which is more than just fairly high. Only a few children have that high of an IQ, and there wasn't a single person quite as smart as him in the surrounding 3 counties. He was tormented and taunted throughout his school years, but Mercury didn't seem to listen in care, though in truth, it hurt him to hear the boys to torment him. However, it was his dreams of grandeur that helped him make it through school, and college, and graduate school. He graduated high school at 14, college at 17, and medical school at 20. With his final degree in his hand, at the age of 20, Mercury left medical school, and looked into the world of doctors.
But he was too young. No one wanted to hire a doctor that was 20. 20 was far too young for anyone to be a doctor, they said, and they shook their heads with each time they said he wouldn't be hired.
And so Mercury went underground. People scratched their heads, wondering where that promising young doctor to be had gone. They wanted to hire him now, there weren't enough doctors coming in. Calls to his home went unanswered, people knocked on his door, only to find it swinging inwards, revealing a dusty home that hadn't been lived in in years.
It was during this time that Mercury began to work on his studies of the human genome, and wondering if it was possible to blend the human genome with the genome of an animal. He rounded up a select few others, and found three children on the street. Mercury operated on them, only one of them survived the first round of injections. For the others, the DNA didn't mix well with their systems, destroying them.
He perfected his injection methods, and then went to work on creating shapeshifters. He learned to place the genome of an animal in a place in the human body, so that the human could take the animal's form. However, there were precedents, which made his work far easier, he studied the genetics of the natural shifters, basing what his creations on that genome. It was different but similar to the human's genome, which made Mercury's work just a little bit easier.
After Samuel and Lane, however, he decided that he wanted some more experiments.
That was when Mercury created the Chikorendel Lab, and he recruited scientists with as few scruples as himself, and he began to work.
Appearance: Mercury isn't tall, but he's not short either, standing at around average, 5 and a half feet. He doesn't mind his height, in fact, he finds the fact that he's not tall tends to make him appear less dangerous. However, despite his height, he is very well muscled, weighing in at 250 pounds, which makes overpowering Shapeshifters and DNAs who do not wish to be overpowered much easier. He works out regularly, jogging once a week, and doing weight training twice a week, contributing to his muscle mass. Mercury's hair is hard to pin down. It's reddish, but also blond, it's hard to decide which color you want it to be. Depending on which angle you look at it from, however, it changes colors, and the lighting affects it as well. His skin is light, bleached by the lack of sun he gets, and when he's outside, he slathers his skin with large amounts of sunscreen. Therefore, there are very little freckles on his body, except for a few around his light green eyes.
