Iona shook her head. ''no.'' She said sharply as she turned her head away again. ''I need no one.'' She said softly. She knew her own words were a lie, but she knew she could wait longer for a better person to come around instead of befriending a backstabber whom she was almost positive this guy was.
She inhaled deeply. His scent was additcing, another sign that she had had little contact with people and DNA's alike. She groaned slightly.

Sam shook his head. "You're wrong. Everyone needs someone. People are addictive. They make you need them." he said with a firm voice. Anything to reel her in. He needed her, it gave his words a firmness that he couldn't have come up with if that had been a lie. Conviction. He knew it.
He knew it.
Sam grinned, turning his gaze out to the lake once more. It wouldn't do to let her know that he needed her. It would make him appear desperate, instead of distant and aloof.
He needed his image, so that it wouldn't be so obvious when he began the manipulation.
But sometimes, ego stroking was so annoying.

Iona snorted. ''What makes you think, that after...so many years of being alone and lied too that i would change now?" she asked strongly as she turned to look at him. Her eyes were sharp and daring. She didnt make any other move though. She didnt want to harm him, but his questioning and convencing was annoying her.

Sam rolled his eyes, "You need someone, don't you? You're tired of being alone. You want a companion. I could feel your heart thudding when I was talking to you. I'm not an idiot, you know. And besides, I can help you. I can help you get out of this place." he made a wide gesture around them.
He snorted dryly, turning away to gaze out across the lake again. You could watch the lake all day long. It was a distracting thing, in its man-made beauty. Not that Sam was swayed by it, but still.

Iona snorted. ''People like us are not like the shapeshifters. We cannot blend in. Well,'' She paused and looked him over. ''Maybe you, but my time will not.'' She said with a small growl.
''And i need no one.'' She said, not adressing the other parts of his questioning. He spoke the truth, but she didnt want him to know that. She didnt need him. She needed ones of her own kind, even if they were fearful of her.

"And I can help you blend in. Not that hard. Honestly, there are colonies of people who escaped this place. They live on islands in the middle of nowhere. You wouldn't even have to blend in." the lies fell off his tongue so easily. He knew very well that no one survived escaping, or else they got hauled back home. Well, if you considered here home as Sam did. He honestly didn't understand why people wanted to leave.
Sam shrugged. "Suit yourself. And when the day comes that you are so unbearably lonely that you kill yourself, remember what I said. Remember what I said."

Iona snickered. ''Trust me, I will not kill myself. I will go down fighting. I will find my damned parents and kill them, if its the last thing i can do,'' She said with a snarl. Her fangs were bared and her eyes were like that on a blood thursty beast.
She stayed like this for many moments before she snorted and stood up. She was getting annoyed.

Sam rolled his eyes. "Whatever, wolf girl. You will find that being alone is not worth it. Just remember that I tried to warn you. I did try to warn you. And when I see your body, I shall laugh. I shall laugh because I was right and I knew I was right."
He shrugged and got to his feet as well, but instead of trying to talk to her, he walked towards the salt water lake. He needed to feel the water against his skin, taste the salt on his tongue.
DNAs, humans, shifters. They were all the same.

Iona laughed. She shook her head. /Atleast my life will be worth something in this shit hole,/ she thought as she imagined meeting with her parents again and tearing them limb from limb.
Her mouth watered. She was a beast. the thought of human blood in her mae made her excited. //Any day now, and you will meet them again,// she thought with a small laugh.

Sam grimaced slightly, trailing his fingers through the water. Honestly, all he'd wanted was a furious, easily manipulated girl. Was that so hard to ask for?
Yeah, he'd go put in a request for that later.
Of course it was hard to ask for.
Easily manipulated people were few and far between here. Most had been scarred by their pasts, and were on edge, so hard to gain their trust.
He knew it by heart. So why had he made that mistake?
She'd taken him off guard, of course. She'd caught him at a rare moment when he was more off guard than most. He'd felt softer, gentler.
And look where it had got him.
Hah.
He was foolish. But typically, the others were more foolish.

Iona, though she had thought about heading inside, only moved into the shadows beside the freshwater lake and lay down on her back, looking up at the sky. She let out a heavy sigh. Medical day was tonight. She was dreading it....
